Westover
Heights Clinic is looking for patients with acute Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
to participate in a clinical trial of a new antiviral medication.
You
may be able to participate if you meet the following requirements:
Patients must:
Be 50 years
of age or older
Have a
clinical diagnosis of herpes zoster (shingles) as evidence by a rash
Have pain
associated with shingles
Have not yet
received antiviral treatment
Be enrolled
into the study and receive their first dose 72 hours or less from
appearance of rash
If qualified and enrolled into the study, patients will receive:
Antiviral
treatment for 7 days (Valtrex or one of two dose regimens of FV-100)
Follow-up for
shingles pain for 90 days
A small
stipend for attending study visits
