Roughly about 66 days ago ( 9.4 weeks ago ). I had potential exposure to HSV2. A one night stand I slept with. Had just broken up with my girlfriend recently and in that time I slept with about 3 women unproctected. After some poking and prodding one of the women told me she did have HSV2 but wasn’t in an outbreak and had one months ago. I don’t know her at all so don’t know the validity of her story. We had unproctected vaginal sex one time. So one night, about 4-5 days later I got out of the shower about an hour after sex and saw some red spots on there, figured it was after some rough sex / friction. No lesions or pain but 4 red dots. In that time I have been tested 2 or 3 times for all STDs.

I should mention that previous to this exposure I had a UTI a week or two before. As well as “female” bacteria in my urine. I have heard as a male that that is rare and doesn’t happen much, so possible complications could happen and I am going to see a Urologist most likely if it isn’t HSV2.

My symptoms post exposure initially were anal pain resembling hemorrhoid or fissures (never had one before) a strange perenium irritation, what felt like bowel retention. Some itching and tingling in the genitals as well as a “tugging” sensation down there, bad head and neck pain (though I had viral meningitis from herpes so I went to ER). And fast forward to currently where I am now. I am still having occasional tugging sensation down there, and some pain when I get an erection and when I ejaculate. My penis has also had some redness and irritation on the tip in the past few weeks. Not sure if could be HSV2 or fungal related.

I also have HSV1 orally, though I’ve never had a fever blister, so I know that it can take longer to show up on a test potentially? I had taken some Valtrax prescribed by the ER Dr (to calm my fears) during about my 6-7 week HSV2 test, which came back negative. This recent test I took a few days ago is at the 9.4 week mark and is also negative.

How much Valtrex did you take? How many days? That can influence an antibody test.
How do you know you have oral herpes if you have never had a cold sore?
I am going to assume that you have been tested for all the other STI infections?

1 MG (or GM?) Valtrex, it was a 14 day supply. I took it right before the first blood test. However this recent 9 and a half week test, I had not taken any in about 3 weeks prior to that.

I have tested positive for HSV 1 before. I have also been tested positive for other STI infections yes and came up negative

So I’m still confused – you tested positive by blood test for HSV 1 or by swab test from a lesion? A blood test cannot tell you where you are infected, only that have that virus.
I think you should wait 12 weeks from the concerning encounter and redo the test for HSV 2 only

Sorry I have been positive for hsv1 for years from a blood test. My concern isn’t hsv1 genitally. My concern is that if having hsv1 antibodies will cause HSV2 antibodies to show up later?

And concerns if a 9 and a half week blood test is relatively accurate for HSV2 ?

I have only been tested for HSV2 in my recent test I got back that was negagvif at 9 and a half weeks. I just want to know the accuracy % of that test.

OK, this is a guess but I would say you can count on the negative with probably 85% certainty
