› Forums › Herpes Questions › .91 Equivocal Result
Hi.
About a year ago I received an equivocal result on my hsv2 test and I have been afraid to get tested again ever since. I have paranoia and don’t know how to proceed without more information.
My number was .91, which I was told was a low equivocal – is this true?
I was also told by one source that equivocal meant you were likely to have the virus. A 2nd source told me that that meant you were unlikely to have the virus – which one is true? 🙁
In my sexual history there is only one at risk encounter. 9 months before the test I had protected (with a condom) sex only once with someone with hsv2. I thought that if the test was 9 months after sex it would be likely that if I was infected the number would be higher than .91 – am I just being too hopeful?
Thank you so much for all of your help. My anxiety has me bed ridden and I’m afraid to move on with my life.
I want to also add that I have had no symptoms, and it has been one year and 9 months since the one at-risk encounter.
Hi Terri,
Sorry to keep adding to this, but through research I realized that hsv2 could also be passed through oral sex. On top of that one encounter when we had sex (only once and with a condom) there were about 3-4 incident of oral sex that I gave to him. These were still all 5 to 9 months before the .91 equivocal result.
I believe we talked this AM and you are going to get me your actual test results so I can look at them.
Terri
