      Hello!

I am writing because I have just received my first STD test results and I have stressed myself out about the results for the HSV2 IgG test. My result was a .94 with put me in the equivocal range (.91-1.09). I have made some reckless decisions within the past month and have had unprotected vaginal and oral sex in that time period with two separate people, with the first instance being 3/14. I understand that this has not really been enough time to get an accurate representation of my true level, I just panicked. My most recent encounter was 4/5 and my test was taken 4/11.

I was wondering what would be an appropriate time to wait before getting tested again? I have not shown any clinical symptoms other than a sore throat. However I do not believe that was related as I work ~13 hour days/ 6 days a week, and our weather has bounced around from freezing to 102F (and our pollen has been all over the place).

I’ve tried to not listen to dr google- but I freaked out. I have only had three partners in the last 7.5 years- so I am truly hoping my body lives in the grey zone and this is not an indication that I have contracted HSV2.

      Thank you!

You could retest in 6 weeks for a general idea about your status and then do a final test 12 weeks out. Some people just have values in that range and we don’t know why and you may stay right there, in the equivocal or even low positive range. Or you may go up considerably. I’m afraid only time will tell since you’ve recently had a new partner.
