First off, thank you Terri. Thank you so much for everything you do. You helping me get a WB gave me the answers I’ve been searching for a long time! Your drive to help others and research is reshaping what everyone thought they knew. Please know that you are an angel in my book and your name is highly favored.
Here’s the hope for others with low positives for HSV 1 and HSV 2. I had a partner who tested positive for HSV 1 for a index value of 26 on an IGG test. We were already into 2 years into our relationship when I discovered this. Ironically, this when I also started seeing their cold sores as well. As you can imagine, I freaked out. We did every sexual action a couple could do and we were unprotected. Here’s my test results from the last two years:
– Let’s get checked: HSV 1 0.6 Negative HSV 2 <0.5 Negative
– Through my university: HSV 1 1.13 Positive HSV 2 Unknown value, but negative
– Stdcheck.com: HSV 1 1.97 Positive HSV 2 1.01 Equivocal
– Stdcheck.com HSV 1 1.29 Positive HSV 2 1.12 Positive
– Let’s get checked HSV 1 (no values this time) non-reactive. HSV 2 non-reactive.
– Any lab test now HSV 1 <0.200 Negative HSV 2 0.2 Negative
– Western blot test: HSV 1 – negative HSV 2- negative
So there’s hope. I wavered between low positives and ended up being negative. I’m not sure how I didn’t get it after a long time of exposure, but glory to God! I trust the western blot and will now rest. Getting the test through Terri, seems to be the best option. Many medical professionals are uneducated about herpes and might give you a hard time trying to figure this out. Hopefully, this gave someone insight.
Thank you both for your kind words AND for posting your results. I think it really helps for people to see that these tests really are very prone to false positives!
Terri
