Hello,
I had sex for the first time about 1 week ago. Did not use a condom. Less than 48 hours after I noticed that I had 3 scattered flat red spots in the area between my belly button and penis roughly (more towards the left side of my body). They did not itch very much, but just a little. They have since almost completely vanished. I also noticed that part of the skin on my penis was slightly torn with a red complexion, but that has since healed and all but disappeared. About two days after the sex I also began itching my left inner-mid thigh and immediately developed something that looked basically like a bug bite (red area around it size of a quarter). I am worried because I’ve read that herpes can resemble bug bites. It developed a small scab over it at the end of the day. I picked it off, resulting in a tiny bit of blood. It has been visible ever since. Furthermore, I have what looks like another small red spot (somewhat blister looking) on the knuckle of my left pinky finger that I may or may not have had some time now. Recently, I am very paranoid that it is developing around my anus area as I have been experiencing slight itchiness and now a very very mild pain for a couple days. I’ve been seeing the girl I slept with for some time and trust that when she told me she recently had a clear std test last month, she was being honest. Although I know herpes isn’t often tested so that makes me worried. I am going to be tested tomorrow hopefully. Obviously you cannot make a diagnosis and it seems like there is always uncertainty when it comes to herpes, but I’d appreciate your input. Can herpes develop initially on areas besides the penis? Would it make sense for it to develop so quickly after possible exposure? I have no other symptoms by the way.
Thanks!

From your description, this sounds nothing at all like herpes. but if you are worried about these symptoms, you should see a clinician right away to be evaluated for your symptoms. A blood test would definitely not be accurate yet. Herpes symptoms show up 2-10 days after infection. And you are correct, she may not have been tested for herpes as part of an STD screen.
I would encourage you to begin the practice of using condoms with all partners unless you have both been tested for all STD’s and share those results visually and also have waited 3 months since any previous partners for testing accuracy.
