Hi,
Recently diagnosed hsv2 and just started suppression.
1. Have you seen issues with the medication in people with standing anxiety and panic attack issues? I really can’t take anything that will worsen my anxiety.
2. If I don’t take suppression meds but use protection and don’t engage if having an outbreak how much more danger am I putting my partner in.
3. Do you believe lysine and vitamin c immune boosting is in any way helpful?
Thank you!
I’ve never heard of acyclovir having anything to do with panic attacks or anxiety, no.
I don’t know your gender so I can’t answer #2
I do not believe that taking Lysine is helpful, no, but some people think it is so that’s fine to use.

I am a female…
One of the side effects listed is irritability so I looked deeper and it said it can affect your mood.
I would say it is difficult to sort out the irritability due to having herpes vs. from the medication. People take acyclovir due to having HSV 1 or 2, most often. Some people may take this for shingles as well. I personally have not seen this problem with my patients. YOu could always try it and see how it goes for you. This isn’t like an antibiotic that you need to finish totally to be safe and effective. You can take it and then stop if it bothers you in some way.

Thank you
And question 2 – I am a female – if I am not on suppression meds but use condoms and no sex with an outbreak – am I endangering my Male partner by a lot more?
Lastly, being very new to hsv 2 I have today what I think may be prodrome symptoms, if I received oral but not in the place of the prodrome are chances of transmission still low?
Condoms reduce transmission from females to males by 65%. Antiviral reduce transmission by 50% so they are definitely helpful.
yes, receiving oral sex is a lower risk for transmission than intercourse as HSV 2 doesn’t prefer the mouth area. It is not risk free
