      Hi Terrri

I have been a phone pt at your clinic for the last several years, and the privacy that this service offers has been a true lifesaver for me. Unfortunately, I was told today that phone pts living out of state will no longer be allowed to have rxs written for their meds. I was really upset by this news, because as you know, the stigma of a herpes diagnosis is worse than the disease itself. For a lot of reasons, being able to have an out of state MD fill my rx has been one way for me to ensure my privacy. Are there any other providers in your group who can continue to fill for me, or can you recommend other options that wouldn’t require me to see my local MD for a rx?
      Thanks

That is a true thing. We no longer have an MD at our clinic, focusing exclusively on sexual health and women’s health with a staff of nurse practitioners and nurse practitioners cannot write out of state prescriptions. There are, however, online services for obtaining prescriptions that many people use for this purpose as well as other sensitive prescriptions. Does that sounds like it might be an option for you? I should think it would be pretty easy for you to find this online.

Thanks Terri. Ordering online would work for me, but my understanding is that I still need a rx. When your office provided my rxs, I always had the medications shipped by my insurance mail order. Could you give me some more specific information on what the online options are that you are familiar with? I want to be sure that I’m receiving medication from a reputable source, and preferably not my local MD. I guess I’ve gotten spoiled by the wonderful service your office has provided to me over the years, and because this is all still fairly new to me, I’m not sure where to turn. Thanks.

Another possibility is that we could do your prescription at a local pharmacy, like Walgreens, and you could have it transferred to your location – sometimes that works. We could try it anyway. I’m out of the office now until Tuesday, but if you leave me a voice mail with your information, I will look into it for you then.
