› Forums › Herpes Questions › Anal herpes?
About 8 weeks ago I engaged in a sexual encounter with someone I believe has genital herpes. He fingered my anus, and afterwards I noticed that had a red sore in his pubic area which Alarmed me. I asked if he had herpes and denied it. But since this incident for the last 8 weeks I have bad severe itching and pain in my anal area. I went to the doctor a few weeks after the incident and after being examined was told I had a fissure and was prescribed an ointment. But it has not helped. I still feel the pain and itching. Some days it subsides and then comes back again, sometimes it feels minor and other times severe. And today I looked at my anal area with a mirror and noticed a small whitish/grayish looking bump near my anus. And I’m so scared I have anal herpes. And I wonder from my encounter am I at risk for being infected with anal herpes? And what should I do? Does this sound like anal herpes and should I get tested?
So there was only finger contact with your anus, not genital or oral contact of any kind? If there was only digital contact there is no way that you would get herpes from this encounter. But a fissure would definitely cause pain and itching and fissures are very difficult to treat and even with the best of treatment, they take a long time to get better. And herpes would not look like a small graying bump.

Thank You for your response. And yes there was no genital or oral contact but he did touch and masturbate himself before fingering me and that is what worries me. I’m afraid that if he in fact has herpes that he transferred it from his genitals to his hands and then to my anus. Is this possible?
It takes a certain volume of virus to become infected and I seriously doubt that even if he had herpes and even if he was shedding virus at the time that he masturbated himself then masturbated you (all unlikely), that you would become infected. These are all true long shots. Is it possible? Perhaps statistically. Is it likely, absolutely not.
