antivirals & testing

I was exposed last year, by a much older man posing as a friend and mentor, who I trusted as a 28 year old when he was 53. He’s had genital HSV for 20+ years and did not disclose.

April/May 2017 Had sex with condom 3 times, oral without a condom once or twice.

Then one time unprotected vaginal sex. A week later, he told me he was having a herpes OB on his shaft, claiming it was first OB in 3 years. OB maybe 5 days after sex?

I was trapped with him. He told me on a plane over the Atlantic, in the darkness, with blue screen light on his lying face, like a nightmare. I shook and cried on the plane in shock and anguish as he dismissed me.

I kept kissing orally him during OB, and he has lip scars, so may have exposed me to oral shedding.

Within 2 weeks I had a distinct dark bright red streak across my clitoris tip, which was sore. No broken skin, not a “cut” – I wished it might be a streak from an underskin infection since I had squeezed my natural sebaceous pores etc/in a panic. I also had swollen glands/cold symptoms. Hoped maybe allergies.

July Blood test Neg HSV1&2

In Aug/Sept I had a vaginal issue, liquidy watery discharge, very frequent oversensitive need to urinate, and distinct/persistent left leg nerve pain, into my groin and all down left leg into foot, for a week or more.

Later Sept, at my period, with strong sun exposure, I got tingling, swelling & red dot on lower lips at typical hsv spots, applied abreva, when I ran out tingling/swelling quickly returned & I got antivirals from obgyn.

Then my Doc gave me Rx for 1 yr course Valacyclovir, saying it would repress hsv to 98% chance no OB or transmission.

Oct-Feb I took 500mg twice a day, then down to 500mg/day for March.

Jan 2018 neg test HIV, HSV1&2

March 22 I went to new obgyn for a vag infection, she told me to go off antiVs, saying bad for body & wanted retest. I said antiVs could throw off test.

Stopped antiVs March 22-present after 5 mos daily antiV. When/how can I best test?

It does sound as though somewhere in this history after having sex with him you went 4 months with no daily antiviral therapy, right? If that is true, you can test now and I would recommend the herpes western blot for your difficult situation, if you want the most certainty.
