Hi Terri,
In the beginning of September I got a massage with anything but a happy ending. This was the first time I ever did this and will definitely be the last.
2-3 days after I noticed some tingling in the tip of my penis. It was also red at the opening. I started freaking out and jumped on the internet. I diagnosed myself with herpes. I saw what looked to be a very small pimple in the urethra. It was gone by the time I went to my doctor a couple of days later. She looked at it and said she didn’t see anything unusual and she took a urine sample and blood. Tested me for STDs and herpes. All came back negative.
She said maybe irritation from massage oil. Gave me prescription for yeast infection. That didn’t work and gave me azythromycin (2 pills). Symptoms seemed to get better and then a few days later they came back. Now I started feeling like there was a drip of pee and the end of my penis. Had some small powdery white spots in underwear a couple of times. I went back in and she checked me out again. Said everything looked normal. This time did a urine culture for UTI and put me on cipro. Culture came back negative.
Still having the slight burning when urinating and soreness in the tip of my penis, i went to see a different doctor. He looked and said he did not see anything.
My first doctor gave me the herpes blood test on day 5 after exposure and told me there was no sign of old or new infection. From everything I have been reading, that does not seem to be long enough.
About 4 weeks later it felt like the tip of my penis was getting pinched. I looked inside and towards the tip there was a red spot that was a little sore. Now this is almost 4 weeks from exposure. I went back to the doctor and she said it did not look like a herpes lesion. She said there is almost no chance it is herpes. I get it but the symptoms keep making me think i have it. I saw the red spot a couple of weeks previous and by the time i went to the doctor you could barely see it. They gave me another herpes test – again they said no herpes.
My doctor sent me to a urologist in October and said I have NGU. Not really sure how they diagnose it but that is what he said. He put me on bactrim didn’t have much effect. He said he did not see any indication of herpes. After taking the meds for a month he wanted me to get another herpes test. He said he would be very surprised if it came back positive.
I have been putting it off. I wanted to get your thoughts on this issue. I have had itching in the tip of my penis and anus too. Slight burn when urinating. Symptoms come and go but usually present most of the time.
I am really worried I might have herpes. Sorry for the long post.
Thanks

So what sort of contact did you actually have with massage person? Please be specific.

Hi Terri
Sorry for the delay. I have been out of town. The only contact was a handjob with massage oil. When done she got a towel and cleaned me up. Munro remember her rubbing the towel back and forth across the tip of my penis which hurt.
Thanks

The kind of contact that you had is not a risk for acquiring genital herpes at all. It may be that the towel was rough or the tip of your penis was very sensitive (quite common after sex and orgasm). But the experience is not a risk for STDs of any kind.
