Hi Terri.
My dad gets outbreaks on his lower back and nose for decades. He recently had an outbreak on his lower back. We share toilets. Wanted too see if there is a risk of transmission sharing a toilet with him? It wasn’t back to back usage.
Also, I laid in bed where he sleeps. What about that?
Please advise. Thanks!

Also:
I laid in bed where he sleeps. What about that? And I accidentally grabbed his towel and threw it around me for a spilt seconds (didn’t pat or rub myself dry) then threw it off me. Transmission risk?
His back herpes is pretty much faded now.
Please advise. Thanks

None of these situations present any risk for acquiring HSV from your dad, no.

Thanks Terri.
You know how the IGg antibody test misses 30% of HSV1 cases…
Does that mean a false negative of HSV1 happens every single time you test (pretend you test for HSV1 10 different times- will all those times come back as a false negative??) or can you get a false negative test one time & other times you test for HSV1 come back positive? Also, if someone has genital hsv1 from oral sex, will that show up positive as hsv1 IGg antibody test?

Lastly, how common is it to get oral herpes on your gums?

In my experience, if the IgG test misses an infection, it misses it repeatedly

YesOne could get oral herpes sores on the gums,
