Hello Terri
We’ve talked recently and I’ve done a western blot test through you. IGG HSV 1 = 35.46 IGG HSV 2 = 1.48 I’m asymptomatic for HSV 1. Never had a cold sore
I came back negative for HSV 2. My current gf just got tested also her results were IGG HSV 1 = 4.64 & IGG HSV 2 = < 0.90. She has never had any symptoms yet either.
We’ve been kissing since about Oct 25th 2022 at least once a week. On December 1st I preformed unprotected oral sex on her. On December 30th she got tested and her results were as above.
We’re thinking about testing again in 2 months to see if her index values change.
My questions:
Is it possible that this is a false positive?
Is it possible that she developed these antibodies a month out from preforming unprotected oral sex?
Can we consider this a true positive, safe enough to preform oral sex?
Should she do the western blot to confirm?
So let me be certain that I understand what you are saying here:
You got a low positive HSV 2, did the western blot and are negative for HSV 2, positive for HSV 1.
The got an IgG test and is also positive for HSV 1 and negative for HSV 2.
So you are the same?
There is not way to know if her HSV 1 was present before you gave her oral sex or not. If she doesn’t have symptoms genitally, then a good chance she was infected prior to receiving oral sex from you.
I think it is high enough to assume she is indeed infected with HSV 1 and since you both are, giving oral sex is not a concern.
Terri
