› Forums › Herpes Questions › bump just inside the lip
Hi Terri, I had this situation about a couple of days ago and it does not fit any of the research I have done so far and I need your professional take on this. One night I noticed something like a bump about 1mm diameter, raised just inside my lip (junction where keratinized lip turns into mucosa). There was no redness but just a bump. It was just barely inside the mouth or you can say it was at where my upper and lower lip meet when my mouth closed. I could not make out if it was on the keratinized part or mucosa and it was very tiny. At one point I felt that it was a blister, it was firm to touch and I could not clearly make out if it was tissue swelling or fluid in it, it was so tiny. I slept and next morning, swelling was gone and there was barely visible kind of white skin left and was wet with my saliva and same evening, I took that wet and slimy extra skin off and there was normal mucosa skin-like skin under it.There was no sore ever that I saw. It was so small area, barely 1mm. I put on some Betamethasone on my lips and if any redness from pulling the skin was gone too. This whole thing lasted for less than 20 hours from the time I noticed the bump. I never had cold sores, could this be a minor breakout or it was a mucocele? I do get mucoceles often but this one was just on edge of inner and outer lip and also I am not sure if mucocele could be this tiny and occur at that location. I have fear of Herpes and I dont know if I am overthinking but I want to clear things up. Please help me with this. I could not find any proof that mucocele can occur there and that too very tiny and that scares me if it was herpes. I live in Canada, Vancouver and if I want to get western blot, how can I make that happen? Thank you Thank you. Please help me
Sounds like a mucocele to me, and they can appear there. I’ve had them there myself
If you want a western blot, we can definitely get that done. I’m out of town until Nov. 10 and I think the schedule is quite full for when I return, but I’ll be opening up more times and feel free to get on the schedule if you want to know your HSV status.
Terri
