I know this is a crazy question but my dad has a coldsore right now and touches it all the time. I told him not to but he’s 72 and hard headed and just not very conscious. He pets my dog all the time and touches my dog around the mouth area. Can my dads herpes be transferred to the dog? How would that happen ? Thanks in advance.

I know that horses can get herpes though it is a very different strain than humans get, but I don’t know anything about other animals getting herpes. I would not be the least bit concerned about your dog, however. Transmission is tough enough to another person, I would think very difficult to a dog, if they were even vulnerable to herpes of the human kind.
