› Forums › Herpes Questions › Can Balantitis cause a positive result test for HSV2
I am 41 years old and uncircumsized. A couple weeks ago I noticed my penis being sore and irritated. I admit I can get careless on my hygiene under my foreskin. Which I did on this occasion after having anal sex wuth my significant other due to her being on her period. Within a few days I noticed I had a few cold sore looking areas on the rim of the head of the penis. Outside relationship sex did not cross my mind. So I didnt panic. I just simply looked on google for my symptoms and reactions and it lead me to Balanitis. Everything I was experiencing was balantitis related according to STD sites. From the pictures on their site, to the outbreaks on the body I really believed it was Balantitis. I showed my other half my outbreak and decided to go to a clinic. Even the Dr that looked at my issue and noticed it looked nothing like HSV2 possibitly. But asked if I wanted to take a test for it for peace of mind. She said I shouldnt worry. I agreed and the results came back POS- for HSV2 to my surprise. It is shocking and very stressful because I have so many questions and nowhere to get a resonable answer. I researched possible tests that give false pos- and looked for the best test out there with more better results. Research led me to Washington Blot. Still needing confirmation, I was refered to you by the gentleman assisting me for The Washington Blot test for a few answers and advice. Hopefully you can give me your best of your knowledge. Thank you for your time.
I’m glad that you’re here so that I can answer more questions for you. I need to know what kind of testing you had for herpes type two and what the results were. Specifically, if there is a number associated with your results, I would like to know that. Or was this a swap t
? And was it an IgG or AGM test? If the result is a positive IgG test with a number lower than five, I would suggest that you obtain the western blot and I can certainly help you with that.
