Unprotected sex 8 1/2 weeks ago. I went to obgyn 8 days later with discharge, they did all std test except for hsv. Doctor put me on bacteria meds a week later when tests and cultures came back, they said it was yeast (everything else was negative),and put me on meds for that. By this time my stress and anxiety has kicked in wondering what else cAn I have. I was only sleeping 1-2 hours a night and forcing myself to eat. Feeling nauseous fatigued and started having a stinging pain on the left side of my vagina (between inner labia and inside vagina). I also went to a walk in clinic my nasal drip got worst and I have a really bad sore throat (anxiety?) I did give him oral. Doctor swapped no strep no nothing put me on antibiotics for 10 days. Didn’t help. Still have the symptoms going to ENT next week. Went back at 6 weeks after the encounter and got retested and throats swapped – all negative. Went to PC at 7 weeks got tested for hsv2 and throats swapped again – All negative – thank God. Also went back to OBGYN for the stinging he found a “pimple” it popped so he swabbed it sent it in for herpes test- Came back Negative!!
My doctors said I’m fine that my anxiety and guilt (wedding on 2weeks) are making me sick. I should move on and take it as lesson learned.
BTW I paid for the man I had sex with to get tested at 6 weeks and all is was also negative including hsv1 and hsv2 (igg)Stinging has calmed down still there thou.
And I also started birth control pill 3 weeks after the sex.
I am constipapted and super anxious and feeling guilty.Should I retest???
9 week test accurate???

If the person with whom you had sex tests negative for HSV 1 and 2, it is unlikely that the symptoms you are experiencing are related to herpes. I don’t know the timing of his testing in relationship to when he might have had sex with someone else to know how reliable it is but so far so good! It is also good news that the “pimple” was negative for HSV. We like 12 weeks to go by for final testing but if you have results from this partner, that can short cut the time.

He has a live in girlfriend whom he’s been with for a year and a half. He says I’m the only other person he has been with besides her.
If this is true then I should be ok?
So nice he tested negative. Also, I have an appointment tomorrow to get retested for everything – full panel.
I know I’m suppose to wait until 12 weeks but with my wedding ns around the corner my anxiety is thru the roof.
I can not function at all- my physical, mental and emotional state are declining FAST…
I also made an appointment with a physiologist for next week for my ANIEXTY my doctor suggested it due to how emotionally unstable I’m getting.Terri,
What are the chance of me having hsv under these circumstancess? And can Anxiety, GUILT and starting birth control really give me physical symptoms???
Is the mind really that powerful??
Stinging in vagina
Irritated vagina
Dry vagina
Sore throats
Difficulty swallowing
Nausea
Constipation
No appetite
Can’t sleep – restlessThank you for you patience and expertise

So that other partner did test negative by IgG test? Then I think it is extremely unlikely that any of this is due to herpes. I don’t know if your symptoms are related to something physical but I suspect most of this is due to anxiety and worry and probably guilt. Visiting with a psychologist would be useful.

Terri,
I did a full std retest at 9 weeks and all is negative except HSV1 IGG 17.6.
I have never tested for hsv1 until now and I am in my mid 40’s, the reason I did is because I read that hsv1 also can. E genital. As if at as I can re al I have never had an OB oral or genital.
So I was a little surprisedSince the man tested negative for everything 6 weeks after our encounter, I would think I have had HSV1 from before this.(he said he has only been with me and his girlfriend for over a year). This being said my questions are:
1) this is something I’ve had for awhile?
2) what does igg 17.6 mean
3) what are the chances that I can have HSV2 from this person if he tested negative?
4) retest at 12 weeks for both HSV 1 and 2????
5)if I have had this for some years, is it possible not to have an OB?
6) how will I know if it’s oral or genital?
7) should I have this man retest to make sure he is ok???Any other information you can give would be appreciated since I’m not educated on all this.
Thank you -

He may not have even been tested for HSV 1 since it is not commonly considered an STI (though it can be)
1) this is something I’ve had for awhile?
Yes
2) what does igg 17.6 meanA solid positive and not new
3) what are the chances that I can have HSV2 from this person if he tested negative?
Tiny
4) retest at 12 weeks for both HSV 1 and 2????
You don’t need HSV 1 testing.
5)if I have had this for some years, is it possible not to have an OB?
Yes6) how will I know if it’s oral or genital?
You cannot know if it is oral or genital until you have an outbreak in either location that can be swab tested7) should I have this man retest to make sure he is ok???
I don’t think so
You can get the kit from the University of Washington (206-685-6066) and then have either your normal provider draw it or if that isn’t possible, I can be your provider for this through our study. You should wait 12 weeks from your last sexual encounter with anyone whose HSV 2 status you do not know or whose status is positive.
