I was exposed to HSV-2 on 12/6/21 by receiving oral sex from someone with a confirmed and pre-existing infection of HSV-2. I am confident I was negative before that. I’m male.
I took an IGg test on 3/7/22 and received the test results below. That puts the testing date at approximately 13 weeks post-exposure.
Test was taken at an AnyLabTestNow location and was performed by LabCorp.
HSV-1 IgG, Type Spec: <.91, Negative
HSV-2 IgG, Type Spec: .91, Equivocal
HSV-2 IgG, Supplemental Test: Negative
Index Range: <.91 = negative; .91 to 1.09 = equivocal; >1.09 = positive
Question: Does the supplemental test indicate that I am negative of HSV-2?
Follow-up Question 1: How does the supplementary test make this determination?
Thank you in advance. I know that being Herpes+ isn’t the end of the world, but I’m still very much in a state of wanting to know for sure whether I am – or +.
One additional detail: I am asymptomatic. I have never had a breakout that I am aware of.
You were not exposed to HSV2 by receiving oral sex from someone who is infected with HSV two. 95% of people who have HSV two have it genitally and I think you’re confusing this by worrying about getting it from receiving oral sex. HSV-2 is rarely oral. Your equivocal
result with a negative supplemental suggest that you are not at all infected with HSV two. I would stop worrying about this if I were you
