I was recently diagnosed in Oct 2018, so I’m still coming to terms with it.
Since then, I’ve had high anxiety and am constantly washing my hands. I’m now a full time, diaper cream applying nanny. I wash my hands as soon as I get to the families home, after every time that I go to the bathroom, and then some. I’m starting to just slow down on doing it obsessively.
Am I able to transfer it when changing the baby, or applying diaper cream? Specifically if I had a cut on my hand, cuticles, dry skin or something?
I bought some latex gloves, so that’s helping the high anxiety that I’m facing. But just clarification would help.
Thanks in advance
Wait – is your infection on your hands? Or is genital or oral?
You are not going to transmit to a baby if you have genital infection. Simply wash your hands for no longer than 20 second with soap and warm water after using the restroom and you have taken away any risk. If you have oral infection, simply don’t kiss the baby with a cold sore and wash your hands after touching a cold sore/ You do not need latex gloves.
I was diagnosed with HSV-2, genital herpes. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for clarifying, it’s just been an emotional ride on germophobia, but am doing a lot better!
You are most welcome!
