Good afternoon,
Took an iGG test about a month ago. What are the chances of a false positive with an index of 1.84 on a hsv2 gig ab test. Also, I submitted a western blot last week.
Also, wanted to include more details.
This was my first STI screening. I was dumbfounded when they doc said I had encountered hsv2, and I am scared of what is to come
I have never felt or seen any symptoms, but I have seen hair bumps on my male genitalia every now and then (they were not clustered or watery like typical herpes bumps), and also every now and then (when I hold water in too long to pee) I feel a slight tingle down there. Usually last for about one second. I have naturally dry skin which itches when I work out or wear undies that do not agree with me.
Good morning Terri,
Just wanted to make sure that you saw the messages above. Have a great day.
You are definitely in the low positive range with a 1.84 and the CDC and I recommend a western blot as confirmation of this result – no question. Nothing you have described above is a symptom that concerns me that you have HSV.
Terri
Hey Terri. I jusy wanted to give an update. I took a western blot test and got my results back. Both HSVs were negative. At the moment it is now 8 weeks since last sexual encounter. Also,I have been in a relationship for over 1.5 years now. Do I need to get retested?
Also another piece of info: here are the dates of my previous sexual encounters this year: 2/13/22, 1/2/22. All we’re with my GF, and have only been with her since start of relationship in Jan 2021
If your partner tests negative, I don’t believe that you need any further testing. Good news!
Terri
