Hi Terry,
On my last visit to my primary care, they tested me for all STI as a routine procedure they said, everything was normal except for HSV 1 &2 the Quest results are showing the following numbers:
HSV 1: 40.00
HSV 2: 2.92
Never has any symptoms before, I know quest is really good at giving people false positive test, what are my chances of having an incorrect result? Please help this is really causing me a terrible anxiety!
With an HSV 1 value of 40, it is possible that there is some cross reactivity with HSV 2 here and there is a good chance that your HSV 2 is a false positive. I would strongly recommend getting the western blot. You can work with UW and your own provider to get this test or work with me if you wish. But you need a better test to sort this out completely
Terri
