I am a 27F living in NYC.I had sex on Dec 25th 2021 with a boy and again on Jan 5th 2022 with another boy, both of these times were unprotected sex. I haven’t engaged in any sexual activity since then. I did an IGG Test on Feb 11th 2022 and got a 1.2(Positive) for HSV1 and 1(equivocal) for HSV 2. This is my first time testing for HSV 1 and 2. I have never had any herpes symptoms either on my mouth or genital area.
What are my chances of me getting HSV-2 for these 2 encounters? If I retest in 2 weeks and the equivocal number increases on the HSV 2 test – should I assume I have it?
I think a negative IgG test at 8 weeks out will be good, or even an equivocal. But if another low positive, you should get the blot to confirm your status. The risk of getting HSV 2 with two encounters is low but condoms reduce transmission by 96% – good to use them
