Hi There!
My background:
– Positive for HSV1 (had cold sores as a child)
– Equivocal and positive results for HSV2 with IGG in 2016 (first value of 1.08 and then 1.12)
– Western Blot (WB) taken in 2016, positive for HSV1 and negative for HSV2
– Current STD panel in June 2018 showed positive for HSV2 with IGG value of 2.67
My questions:
– Since I had a false positive in 2016, will I continue to receive false positive results?
– Since my HSV2 value increased from 1.08 to 2.67 over two years, should I retake the WB?
Have you had other partners from whom you could have contracted HSV in the two intervening years? If no, then forget it. You will likely always have this issue. If yes, then you may wish to get another blot to get an accurate read on your status.
Terri
