Hi Terri,
I have a question about recent lab results.
Background:
Had a sexual encounter 2/9/22, partly protected as condom came off during. We had already discussed testing before and shared recent test results, mine being from 2020 since I had not even kissed another girl since last relationship in 2020. Everything clear, even HSVs on both of ours. She had been dating and casual sex with others before we met in 1/22 but had endorsed clean since last test. Day after, I noticed what could’ve been balanitis, and a small bump that ulcerated in a day, with polyuria, low back and groin pain with tingling/ numbness down leg and groin with bad urethritis. Got prophylactic doxy and full panel test 5 days later, everything clear, urine clear. 10 day course seemed to fix everything. A derm saw the bump and deemed not herpes.Stopped seeing her in March, but had not had sex again bc of the genital stuff. I have had random pains in my testicles for a year now and waiting to get into a urologist. So brushed off anything recently. No other s/s. Got a full panel just for the hell of it to make sure a week ago. Everything clear except
Hsv1 IGG 1.27, HSV2 igg 1.12. Index >1.09, reading HIGH. I’m shocked, as I rarely, if never share drinks or utensils with others either & have had no new partners other than her. I started noticing numbness on one side lower back after the results, being hypervigilant. Had some rectal itching but same derm deemed not herpes again but said I could have GHSV and never have an initial outbreak? Did another IGG retest this week and ordered a western blot bc I’m concerned about having prodrome numbness and random penis pain means I have it. that girl sent me new std results and is neg for HSVs this week.Q: is it possible to have both HSVs on an igg show false positive and is what I’m describing prodromal?
Thanks for your time

**And let me clarify the ulcerated bump had no drainage and has healed over to a small red bump now, derm thinking it was an irritated Fordyce spot

Similar situation to me. What were the IgG numbers on your new blood test? Did you get the results?

It is absolutely possible that both of these very low positive values are false positives.
Your symptoms do not sound herpetic to me.
I would strongly advise the western blot for clarification in your situation. I would say at this point, we don’t know anything for sure about your herpes status.Terri
