Hello I had unprotected oral and viginal sex with a hsv 1 and 2 positive female. I test through labcorp hvs type spec ab for hsv 1/2 at week 6 with reflex and at week 12 with no reflex testing. They both came out negative at <.91. How ever this last week I had a small red blister/pimple looking bump around my genital area it was a single bump not clusters. So I just wanted to know if these test are conclusive or do I need further testing and I couldn’t get to a test site quick enough due to work to get a swab test done. So I would like to know how accurate are the igg test by week 12 and if you believe I might need further testing because of that small red bump a got 13 weeks after negative test results via blood igg testing.
I think the results are likely accurate, but we know that the HSV 1 IgG misses 30% of infections and the HSV 2 misses 8% of infections. The small bump doesn’t sound like herpes to me but if you are still worried, you could do the herpes western blot for greater certainty
