I’ve been in this situation for about 5 months now (What a great start to 2023). I tested positive for HSV2 via blood test with my PCP but I’ve never had any symptoms or outbreaks to my knowledge of it. I’ve tried to get my most recent partner tested with no avail (no blisters or lesions, and they won’t let him blood test) and my lack of knowledge to this get the best of me, so I’ve been researching and handling things alone. I’m relieved to have found this forum. I’m interested in Western Blot after I test one last time with my OBGYN.
01/24-1.55 IGG
02/15-1.38 IGG
04/26-1.18 IGG
HSV Type 1/2 DNA QUANT, PCR- Not detected.
If I was HSV2 positive would my levels rise by the 12 week test? Wouldn’t I get a symptom by now?
If I want to take a Western Blot test, do I have to be off of antivirals to take it? (I’ve been taking antivirals since January’s diagnosis, just to be on the safe side)
Do antivirals have an effect on my levels via IGG test?
There is an excellent chance that this is a false positive result. yes, you need the blot. But yes, you need to be off antivirals for about 12 weeks for greatest certainty as they can cause issues with both the IgG and western blot accuracy. And your partner can order these tests himself as a number of online websites, like healthcheckusa.com
