Hello Terri, thank you for everything you do. I’m going to try & include as much as info as possible.
Back in dec of 2022 I contracted Covid and developed a rash in the skin folds between my legs and vagina. I went to my local health department & had it swabbed, I am unsure of the type of swab (wether it was a PCR swab or not) but my results came back negative.
The rash has continued to come back about 4-5 times since then. It doesn’t itch or have any bumps/blisters. It resembles that of heat rash (unsure if we can attach pictures as it’s NSFW) I have went back to the same health department but just had a different doctor and she too said it doesn’t look like anything contagious/STD related but I am not convinced.
I was wondering what the odds are of having a false negative herpes swab tests? For reference I developed the rash at night & went in to have it swabbed the next morning so it was fresh.
They have since prescribed me an anti fungal cream called Nystatin and Triamcinolone acetonide that I am to apply 2x a day for 2 weeks.
I don’t have any burning or tingling sensations but the rash seems to just stay present. I have been with the same partner for 5+ years, all unprotected sex & he has never had a rash, cold sores, blisters, nothing.
Thank you again for your time
I also forgot to mention that I asked the doctor who swabbed the rash the chances of it being a false negative & she told me that usually if it’s a false negative the results will say inadequate cells. She claims that she did a great job at swabbing it and the results did NOT say inadequate. But was wondering the likelihood of a false negative result?
Thank you
Commenting to boost
The presentation of the rash that you describe sounds absolutely nothing like herpes and very much like the fungal infection that they are treating you for.
Take the worry that this rash is herpes off your plate.
Terri
