Hello.
Here is my story. I am female, September 9th 2017 I had unprotected sex with a new partner who told me he was clean. The following weekend, September 16th 2017 I gave him unprotected oral. That following weekend Friday September 22 2017 he texted me saying he was going to the ER because his “dick hurt” and told me he had slept with multiple girls the weekend before. That following Monday. he told me he swabbed positive for herpes but blood test negative, so it must have been one of us that gave it to him. He said he had one small bump. After I asked him multiple questions his story changed to he may have had this over a year and was possibly mis diagnosed the year prior because it was the same red spot, and then the story changed again. I immediately got tested at my Gyno. They did IGG testing for 1 and 11 both negative as my baseline. She also did a swab because after the news I felt a variety of symptoms but no lesions. The only thing that came from that was I had BV.
6 weeks past exposure: negative for both just stating <.90 ( through STDcheck)
12 weeks past exposure:(through my gynecologist) they called and told me negative.
I have a new boyfriend been together since October and I actually did tell him everything that was going on. He states he gets cold sores once a year and got testing before we got together and he is clean. Fast forward to a week ago. I felt a pimple on my bikini line a few days after shaving did not hurt had a white head. It’s still there now but very small. Of course this made me anxious about having herpes again. As my anxiety grew once more I felt like I had more symptoms, burning Vagina etc. so I went back to STDcheck.com and requested one more round of testing. I got the results today so this is 8 months past exposure My results were: herpes 2 negative: <.90. But herpes 1 positive at 1.45. My questions are
What should I do at this point, a western blot? Do you think it is a false positive? I don’t know what to do from here. -

HSV 1 is less likely to have false positives than HSV 2 but it happens. Probably a western blot is a good idea for you at this point. Your previous tests could have missed an old HSV 1 infection as well. And your new partner is positive for HSV 1 so you could have new infection right?

Also my previous boyfriend that I was with for 9 years would always get cold sores constantly so maybe it’s old and I just never get cold sores. But then wouldn’t that number be higher?
I was mostly worried that I could have possibly have gotten it on my Genitals because being exposed to the one partner who is confirmed to have herpes in his lower region… he never told me which type he had and his story was changing all the time and confusing.
Say this person ended up having herpes 2 do you believe I can trust my negative result for herpes 2 at least? -

With 92% certainty, yes, you can trust that you are negative for HSV 2. And yes, you could have long standing HSV 1 infection from a partner long ago. The numbers don’t always climb – some people just have low positives that are normal for them.
