      Hi Terri,

Last month I had felt weird pain in my vaginal area after sex so I decided to check and noticed 2 scrape marks or tears by my vagina opening and 1 on the part between my vagina and anus. It only hurt to touch directly but when pee touched it I felt no pain. I went to the gyn and she first thought scratches or pimples that been scratched open but decided to do a std test including herpes/HIV. She didn’t swab the scrapes, just vaginal discharge which was light white/ kinda thick and took blood.

A week later I tested negative for all STDs except Herpes. HSV1 IGG: 16.60 and HSV2 IGG: 1.69. They gave me valtrex for 7 days but my scrapes healed before I got my test results back, in about 3 days.

I noticed 2 bumps on the lower end of my vagina/ butt cheek area that has a bump but it’s no white head or fluid coming out just skin. It’s hairs coming out and it doesn’t hurt unless I put a lot of pressure on it. The medication didn’t really change anything. My doctor refuses to retest me and says the test is accurate and I shouldn’t worry.

I been extremely stressed and not eating over this and just wanted your advice and intake on what should I do moving forward in having some type of clarity.

With an index value of 1.69, you most definitely need a confirmatory test as this may well be a false positive. This is according to the CDC. Your doctor is mistaken. And a swab test of the symptoms should definitely have been done. There is about a 70% chance that your HSV 2 result is a false positive. You need a herpes western blot.

Do you think it’s possible I have ghsv1 based on my symptoms described to you. I been dealing with this over a month straight now with itchiness on my butt and legs. I get these random hard bumps with no fluid or pus almost like boils. I have a scratch on my buttcrack that is tiny but stings when I spread my cheeks. I can’t ever remember having a cold sore in my life and I’m 20. My mother said she thinks she got one a few years ago. I received oral sex 3 times out of 4 partners. I’m just stressed because my doctor tells me that it’s mild so it’s nothing to worry about but I’m having a lot of discomfort.

Also I have a western blot but I’m not sure how to get my blood drawn since my doctor refuses. And do you think I should go to urgent care to see if they will swab the cut on my butt crack?

You could have genital HSV 1, but normally, it is quite inactive in the genital area.
If you have something concerning around the anus, yes, you could have it swab tested.
I can order the blot for you – follow the link on this website to set up an appointment if you want to work with me.
