First I would like to say thank you so much for the work that your are doing and providing clarification.
I’ll try to keep it short and to the point.
On January 4th I took a 10-panel std test with stdcheck.com at lab corp. Everything was normal, except for HSV-2 (abnormal). The result was 1.02 with an index: 0.<0.90[negative], .91-1.09[equivocal], and >1.09 positive. IgG/Rflx
The supplemental test that was on the report said read “negative”.
2 days later I got a confirmation test, advised by stdcheck.com,(HSV type specific immunoblot) that came back positive for HSV 2 but didn’t have a range or index
Please help. What should I make of these results?
Shame, shame, shame on them for suggesting this test. The CDC is very clear that the immunoblot should never be used as a confirmation test for an IgG test. I seriously hope someone sues that company for doing this.
I would believe the supplemental negative and you didn’t have a positive result on the IgG, you had an equivocal result.
Terri
