This is a long story, please bear with me.
I went to massage parlor at the end of October which I regret very much. There was handjob, kissing on breasts and fingering (by me). I cleaned my hands and that was it.
A week later I only noticed a small scab suddenly in the underside of penis (circumcised) morning, and its surrounding was red (looked like a red patch). There was another small scab a little further away, and two days later that scab got bigger and smaller scabs(dots) showed up in a line. I peeled them off in the shower accidentally, and there was red raw skin underneath. It turned white I believe and didn’t scab again. I went to the doctor that same day I discovered the scab and was told it was not herpes. The cell culture could not be done as they told me it was scabbing already. I even took pictures, and took it a different doctor and was told it did not look like herpes. That area was pink red for weeks and now its normal color.
Previously I did not have any sexual relationships, and earlier this year I was positive for hsv 1 (cold sore in lips) after encounter within two weeks. Since then there hasn’t been any sexual encounters. After a month of this encounter I took a blood test. I was positive for hsv 1 (>6) and positive for hsv 2 (1.85). It was negative when I last took a blood test in the summer (positive for hsv 1) thus I was scared.
Finally, two months post encounter, I took another IGG test the results came similar (hsv 1 >6 and hsv 2 1.87). If you notice there is a jump from 1.85 to 1.87. I have taken these two tests at the same place, and I decided to take another test somewhere else. I did not get the results, I was told by phone that I had hsv 1 and hsv (both high as they told me). I asked from the numbers, and they are:
hsv 1 8.00
hsv 2 3.1I took this third test a week after the second test, and now I am seeing this big jump. The doctors are telling me I am positive for hsv 2, and no more tests are required. I have asked around online and they said something more happened at the massage parlor but this is what happened! There was a shower (full body),and after that she massaged me with a liquid (body lotion) and it was till finish. There was no unprotected oral otherwise I would have remembered it. I kept thinking if she did have sores, I would have had something on my fingers by now.
I know this is a long story, but I would be happy if this was read and understood. The question is: do I have herpes 1 or 2? I have pictures if needed. Thank you Terri.

Andy12345, I can only look at what set of questions we are on and it says you’ve paid for the first question and two follow ups. If you have something that says you’ve done that twice, I can check with the webmaster.
So you are likely positive for HSV 2. when an person as an index value between 1.1 an 3.5, we like to do a confirmatory test, so you can see that you are getting right up to the point of not needed confirmation of this result. If you had no symptoms at all, I would strongly suggest that you get confirmatory testing, but the scabs are really worrisome. On the other hand, if you have never had intercourse then I would still strongly suggest that you get a confirmatory test.
The experience that you had did not put you at risk for genital herpes. If you do have herpes, then I feel that it was acquired at some other time.
Can you tell me a bit about your sexual history? And where do you live? Would you be able to get a herpes western blot confirmatory test?

This does not help me understand your overall sexual history.
I am not going to say that you do or do not have it without a western blot because your index value is in the low positive range and needs confirmation. If you have that many people telling you different things about whether you have herpes or not, you should likely settle on one source of information and go with it or you will be confused for a long time. The variation between those two index values is not huge. It is well within the normal range of variation in test results.Glad you arranged to get a western blot.

These sores do look like herpes to me, Andy but without a swab test I could not be certain.
I feel that these pictures are consistent with your positive HSV 2 result.
Have you had intercourse in your lifetime? I’m having a hard time getting you to answer my question about your previous sexual history.Terri

I do not believe that you contracted herpes at this encounter! Did you not hear that or do you not believe me? I’m confused.
You could have had herpes for YEARS before you have your first recognized outbreak of herpes.
When you had intercourse in January, were you the giver of oral sex to that person as well?

OK, I missed the part about you were negative in June. So since June, you have had zero other sexual contacts of any kind? Are you absolutely certain that you were negative for HSV 2 in June?

I don’t know what is going on here but you do need a confirmatory western blot. Do you know how to get that?

Yes, if your report of the incident is accurate, then you can test any time now. However, no one can promise there will be no indeterminates. There are actually quite a few lately in the low positive range.
One more question: how long before you tested in June was your last sexual contact?
