hi terri,i’m really confused.i had an incident last sunday where i gave a male oral sex.Didn’t think of it as anything.went on a date the next day and this guy kissed me.Since then I’ve been paranoid.I had these little red bumps on my tongue.they were painless.also discovered my lips became very chapped and there was peeling leaving little red cuts/sores which usually happens when you have chapped lips and the and your lips peel but i was still a bit worried (and it swelled mildly).over next few days i developed a mild headache,i had a mild fever, temperature was between 97-100 degrees.the clinic i went to told me to come back if my temp went to a 101.1 which it didn’t, but they weren’t going to test me because they said whatever was on my cracked lips werent lesions.decided to go to planned parenthood and they won’t test me because apparently I’m not”sexually active”(I’ve not had sexual intercourse)and I’m a virgin but I have had oral sex.i then go to an urgent care and they take a blood test and I’m surprised I’m hsv2 positive, as well as have bacteria vaginosis. i had an igg score of 2.21. been having headaches, fatigue, now backpains(idk if it feels like something is wrong with my spine). generally been working myself sick. idk i may be asymptomatic maybe? I’ve just experienced mild itching in my vagina which goes away. I’m really confused maybe could there be an error in the blood test? or its likely i have had it for a while. also i had the iGG blood test 4 days after sexual contact.
So I’ve been on acyclovir for a few days and normal now.the only thing is I’ve still had these mild sores on my inner lip and I’m not sure what they are. they are Painless and red. and it scabs but no liquid oozes out.it just scabs mildly and looks like chapped lips.can that be herpes?it reappears randomly and goes.it absolutely does NOT hurt.i don’t experience tingling or itching whatsoever and they don’t form as little blisters. its just a red area on my inner lip. advice? -

If you are a virgin, the HSV 2 positive result is likely a false positive. Even though you feel that your mouth is different after giving oral sex to this person, it is really uncommon to get HSV 2 orally. I would encourage you to do two things: 1) ask this person to get tested for HSV 2 and 2) yourself obtain the herpes western blot. Ideally, he would test negative and you could go ahead and get the blot. But if he won’t test or tests positive, you will need to wait 12 weeks from giving oral sex to get the test done. How long was the time between you giving him oral sex and the time you did the antibody blood test?

i took the quest antibody igg test 5 days after engaging in oral sex and swallowed his semen. could this be related? the next day i went on a date and someone kissed me and made me touch his genitals but no oral sex was performed.
i have a few following questions:– is the acyclovir i took this past week going to affect my results if i retake it in 12 weeks?
– also could have the bacteria vaginosis i was diagnosis might have distorted my egg results?
– what might be the cause of the cuts on my lips because it keeps healing and reappearing?
– also taking the acyclovir made me feel better so doesn’t that mean that i have hsv2 and so the antiviral is working?
– whenever I’m in sunlight my head hurts, i have backspain and my lip gets cracked again. any explanations?
– what are the chances that i do have hsv2 orally or genitally, because its very confusing and strange that i do have hsv2 considering the fact that I’m a virgin -

No, the encounter that you had 5 days before testing did not impact the test results – too soon
– is the acyclovir i took this past week going to affect my results if i retake it in 12 weeks?
NO
– also could have the bacteria vaginosis i was diagnosis might have distorted my egg results?
NO
– what might be the cause of the cuts on my lips because it keeps healing and reappearing?
I don’t know – sunburn, change of seasons?
– also taking the acyclovir made me feel better so doesn’t that mean that i have hsv2 and so the antiviral is working?
I don’t know why you felt better with antivirals.
– whenever I’m in sunlight my head hurts, i have backspain and my lip gets cracked again. any explanations?
Not really.Terru

ok then what might be the explanation for the hsv2 result testing positive because I’m a virgin .could it be that I’m hsv2 from a different exposure months or years ago from previous oral sex encounters?
and if the partner i gave oral sex to is positive for hsv2 is there a possibility i might get a higher hsv score when i do get tested in 12 weeks? -

It is possible that you acquired HSV 2 from giving oral sex to a previous partner. Sometimes people seem to think that oral sex is safe sex but indeed, we see people with gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis and certainly herpes from oral sex. If you retest at 12 weeks out, and your index value is a lot higher, then it is possible that you could have acquired HSV 2 at this mot recent contact. Again this is unlikely. If you are still positive at 12 weeks, I would strongly recommend a western blot for clarification. You could also ask your most recent partner to get a test for HSV 2 and if he is negative, you could go back in time to the next previous partner and time your 12 weeks out from that partner
