Hi Terri,
Thank you for taking the time and doing what you do. Herpes is a hard confusing virus so I really appreciate you doing work in an unbiased manner and not judging your clients.
5.5 weeks ago I had a very brief sexual encounter with a high class sex escort. I have used the same provider before approximately 2 months prior. The sex it self was protected and lasted 1 minute at maybe max 2 minutes and then received a handjob.
I had some symptoms 4 days later after inspecting after paranoia that were more typical of hpv and friction burn and one white bump on the underside of my penis shaft that meets the base. The “growth” was biopsied by a derm PA – found negative for HPV and the friction burn was identified as friction burn by the PA. I also had the PA look at the white bump that I’m concerned about and he said “it’s nothing” implying that it’s most likely a fordcye spot. He wasn’t concerned
Fast forward 4.5 weeks to last week I have been stressed at any tingle, and stressed about this spot that It may be herpes. I took an IGG test that was 4.5 weeks after my last encounter and 3 months after the first encounter with the same sex worker and I tested negative >.2 for hsv 1 and 2 via igg blood work.
I guess from your expertise do herpectic bumps last what has been almost 6 weeks? The bump does look more like a fordyce/pil gland vs a herpes leison. It wasn’t itchy, maybe a tad bit tender to touch but not anymore. Do you recommend me getting another IGG Test at 8 weeks? And if I’m negative again then is it conclusive enough to put this behind me? If I did show this main symptom 4 weeks prior to my IGG test, would I have developed antibodies?
Thank you for your time!

herpetic bumps do not last six weeks. The description of the bump does not sound like herpes either. And you used a condom which is great. And the contact was very brief. I think you’re good to go

Thanks Terri for the response. I do plan on taking another IGG test at anylabtest now. I think they used quest diagnostics for testing.
Question for yiu, I take a a lot of natural supplements like liver, vitamin d, ashwagandha, magnesium sometimes zinc. I have heard biotin can increase chances of giving false positive but are there any other supplements you have seen a pattern that increase false positive on IGG tests?

I also have heard that biotin can influence IgG testing and I’m not certain that is correct. I did check with the folks at UW about the possible influence of Biotin on the western blot and there is no influence. I would say that to eliminate this possibility, you should stop taking Biotin a week before you get another IgG test
