I was diagnosed with GHSV 1 over 20 years ago. I had maybe 4 outbreaks in the first five years consisting of one single bump. I have had nothing in 16 years and all of the sudden the last two months I have had symptoms (tingling, itching, swollen lymph nodes in the groin) non stop. In this time 2 small sores came and went and I had one tested which came back inconclusive. These symptoms were spearheaded by a diagnosis of UTI and BV and now I can’t seem to get rid of the itching and tingling, despite being cleared of everything by my gyno. She ran a white blood cell test and I am negative for HSV 2. I’ve been on anti virals for over a month and I still feel Constant prodrome symptoms. I am going through a stressful period and haven’t been sleeping well but I am taking massive amounts of vitamins , exercising, eating right, no alcohol. I don’t know what else to do to get rid of these symptoms. Is it possible for me to be shedding/having constant OBs after all this time?

I would say that if you are having continuous symptoms, they are very unlikely to be related to HSV 1 as it is rarely active and certainly rarely active after 20 years. That is especially true if you’ve been on antivirals and are still having these sensations.
Not sure what you mean by inconclusive on the swab test?

I had my gyno swab what I thought was a possible herpes sore and it came back inconclusive. I got a second one but they are both gone now, yet I still have itching and tingling going on 2 months. My dermatologist prescribed an anti fungal cream and hydro cortisone that only works temporarily. It tends to get worse towards the end of the day or when the creams wear off. Is there some sort of test I could take to confirm I am not shedding the virus with these symptoms?
The swollen lymph nodes in my right groin have been present for close to 6-8 weeks now. I’m guessing the next step would be my Primary Care Physician but I would like to have an idea of what dx tests she should run. My gyno already did a culture and white blood cell test. -

Yes, you can get a PCR swab done to determine if your symptoms are due to viral shedding
I don’t know what you mean by inconclusive. Either it is positive or negative. There is no middle ground that I know of on a PCR swab. So I’m confused by that.Something that last for 2 months is very unlikely to be related to HSV infection.
There is no reason to look for white blood cells – not sure if you mean by blood or by swab? Maybe you mean by swab. If your gyno would provide you with PCR swabs to take home and return after you gather them, this would be helpful for you to know if these symptoms are related to HSV or not.
