I’m taking Anti-Virus medication daily and used condoms when having vaginal sex with my partner. I don’t think I’ve ever had an actual outbreak but was diagnosed with hsv1 a couple months back.
I had sex with my partner twice in the past 2 weeks. We needed use a condom the first time and did the second time. She is now this morning telling me that her stomach is hurting her and I’m wondering if I gave her herpes? From my understanding there is only a 4% chance annually of her contracting it from me? What is your thoughts?
you were diagnosed with HSV 1 genitally or orally? or do you even know where it is? Did you have a positive swab from a lesion in the genital area? If you only have HSV 1, the odds of transmission are WAAAAY lower than the ones you quote. Stomach hurting is not a sign of herpes.

Hi Terri,
I never had an actual sore or an outbreak but did did have a positive igg test 1.54 a couple of months back.
Should I even be concerned about transmitting the disease or not?
That is a low positive and may not even be a true positive – you might want to confirm that though false positives are less common with HSV 2 than they are with HSV 2.
For now, I think you should consider yourself infectious and if you don’t know the location of the infection the steps you are taking are appropriate.
