Hi,I finally have the test results IGg and I am positive for both HSV 1 and 2.My doctor did show me the paper and clearly with no value index for any types.(I live in Canada).I was married for 22 years, faithful to my X.For the last 15 years I’ve had herpes on my left but, never on my genital and it happened few times per year. I’ve never had anything on my mouth area.
1/Last June i had unprotected sex 3 times with the same person. After the last time I had a strange outbreak with obvious tingling for the first time, also there were 2 blisters showed up right close to the anus. Is there any chance I could contract herpes from him?
2/In the past I did not understand much about herpes and after June i became more knowledgeable about herpes.I went through big stress and started suppressive therapy. I did have outbreak with therapy once a month for the first 3 months. Stress could cause me that trouble. I’ve been ok for now. should I increase valtrex from 500 mg to 1000 mg. Would it help transmitting by doing so?
3/I am so sad being positive for both types. Would it be enough for disclosure that I’m positive for genital herpes someday or I have to be clear about both types?
4/Is it normal to have darker colour on the skin after outbreak even with valtrex?
Thank you very much for your help.
Summer, it is possible that you contracted herpes from the 3 unprotected sexual encounters, particularly if you had blisters shortly after that. And I don’t know what you mean about you’ve had herpes on your left – your left what? Did you mean left buttocks? I couldn’t tell if that was one sentence or not. If you had it on your buttocks, then that is genital herpes.
You can certainly increase your dose to 1 gram per day (or 500 mg twice a day) if that’s ok with your prescriber. That is a very usual dose.
I think it is fine to disclose that you have genital herpes but if someone asks to make the distinction between types, then you need to do that, yes.
Dark skin changes aren’t consistent with herpes normally, no.
