Hey Terri, here’s some background. Started seeing someone in September, after three dates things started to move past kissing. She disclosed that she was infected with HSV2 through a sexual assault, she said she understood if it was a deal breaker. I told her I just needed to do some research, I was in a very long term monogamous relationship before this so I was ignorant to what HSV2 actually meant. She got it just about a year ago. I decided it wasn’t a deal breaker if she was willing to take antivirals, I really liked her. I brought her to orgasm a few times with my hands, and a few times orally. Unfortunately we didn’t work out in the end. We actually never got to have sex with each other, zero genital to genital contact. One our last hook ups (the one in question) was right before thanksgiving, I preformed full oral (vagina and anus)on her with use of my hands. After giving her oral, we made out for maybe 5 minutes, and then she performed oral on me (full penis, testicles, area between testicles/anus. I didn’t think much of it at the time. This was before she started to take antivirals. So here is my 1st question. With the act of preforming on her, then making out, and then her preforming on me, what do you think the risk is? Currently I’ve felt fine, I had a small patch of reddish skin under my penis head (4.5 weeks after this encounter) but I attribute that to masterbation. I’ve had zero blisters, sores, open wounds/ulcers, bumps, pain, or discomfort. I also haven’t had any real contact with her besides receiving oral, but not giving it and a few kisses since the end of November. Not super worried, more curious what your thoughts are. Thank you for your time!

My thought is that is very unlikely that you acquired HSV 2 from her – HSV 2 doesn’t like the oral area so that risk is very low. If your fingers were intact, that also is not a risk for herpes whitlow.
Have you ever had any herpes antibody testing done?

I have not. I was in a 17yr long relationship that came to an end this past February. Got a “full panel” done in July, learned then it didn’t include herpes. I’ve never had a sign of any sort that I may have HSV, both 1-2 (I know that doesn’t necessarily mean anything). Had protected sex with one women once after the marriage ended for maybe 5 minutes. Met this other lady and she disclosed, we fooled around but never actually had sex. We just didn’t work out after 11 weeks. I was just wondering about the act of my mouth on her genitals, then both mouths touching, and then hers to my genitals.

      Thanks again!

I continue to strongly believe that your risk of acquisition is very low indeed, given what you’ve told me.
