› Forums › Herpes Questions › Dear Terri. Need a professional input
I decided to get tested for a standard std panel that did not include hsv. I decided to include hsv 1&2 and my results came back positive. The results for hsv 1 was 3.94 IgG, and my Hsv 2 is 2.7 IgG. I have not been sexually active for a year and the two most recent women I have been with were negative and it was negative and it was unprotected sex, and yes I saw their results. I am asymptomatic never had a typical hsv lesión/symptoms appear on my body. I tried getting in contact with my first sexual partner but she has not contacted me back which was also unprotected sex. My question is could you think this could be a false positive I know my hsv 1 is a little out range from a low positive but it is something I have considered. I have considered the possibility of receiving it from my first sexual partner but what baffles me of not passing it to my two recent sexual partners even though we had unprotected sex multiple times. I consider doing the western blot test to see if I am a true positive but I’m here today to receive your professional input.
To add clarification my first sexual partner was around 2018 in June, my two recent sexual happened around 2020-2022
Both could be false positives, but the HSV 1 is far more likely to confirm. Almost all HSV 1 results over 3 confirm as positive – there have been a few exceptions but rare. The HSV 2, however, could definitely be a false positive. I would highly recommend the western blot for confirmation
