Hello I have herpes and have breakouts on my buttocks a few times a year. My partner has always suffered with cold sores does this lesson the chances of him contracting my herpes if her already has a different form of it?
No, but if he does acquire it, he is likely to have much milder symptoms or may not notice symptoms at all.

Oh wow that’s good to know, we have been together 5 years. I am careful about contact but it has always been a concern! Currently trying for a baby so been worried! Any advice welcome. Thanks
Do you know if you have HSV 1 or HSV 2 and has your partner actually been tested to know if he is infected or not?
Terri
HSV2 as it breaks out on my buttocks, docs said no need to get tested it clear I have it!
Any info on trying for a baby
CONT – no my partner hasn’t been tested! Never broke out! But does suffer with cold sores has forever!
So we don’t know for sure that you have HSV 2 just because your outbreaks are genital – HSV 1 can also cause genital outbreaks – buttocks = genitals in this case. I would strongly suggest that your partner gets tested using the IgG test to see what he actually has (and I would disagree with your doc that you don’t need testing because you are your partner could be the same or different and it would be good to know that.
