hello i am a 42 year old black male diagnosed with hsv2 roughly 15 years by an antibody test since then i have had maybe 5 what I think are recurrences I am
now engaged to someone who I have been intimate with for about 5 years and on daily antivirals we do not use condoms i monitor my body but as my name suggests I tend to worry and suffer from anxiety and depression so lately (2-3) months I have become obsessed with transmitting to her although she has no symptoms and has been tested So my question is/are:
After roughly 20 years being infected and on daily meds with practically no outbreaks how likely am I to transmit and is there any kind word or statistic to ease my mind?
Physically I know this virus is minimal but mentally and emotionally I have bad days that are starting to impact my relationship because with the internet I spend hours reading and researching and wondering
thanks in advance
Transmission in your situation is highly unlikely – long duration since infection, minimal outbreaks, on suppression.
I am assuming she knows about your herpes? She made a grown up decision to take a minimal risk?
Also, there are some false positive results on the antibody tests – are you sure what you had were outbreaks?
