I had a 10 panel STD test recently everything came back negative except for my HSV1/2 IGM test for herpes.
Here are the lab values
<.91 negative
0.91 to 1.09 equivocal
>1.09 positive
It came back with a 1.74 Value which is positive. Both of my IGG test for HSV-1 and hsv-2 came back negative. The nurses at the office told me that everything was negative and the doctor has not called me back to notify me to start taking new medicines. Am I freaking out over nothing because my IGM test was positive?
I wouldn’t trust the IGM result at all
When was your last sexual contact? The IgM is very often wrong but if you have recently had intercourse, it could be iffy. Can you let me know that?

Then I would completely ignore the IgM test. For some diseases, this type of antibody comes up first but this is not the case with herpes – the IgG and IgM come up positive around the same time.
