I am having trouble accepting the negative results on my igg tests and wondering what I need to do to be sexually responsible for future partners–should I pursue further testing? I cannot easily afford to have a Western Blott test done at this time, but I am feeling anxious about accepting the negative diagnosis given the inaccuracy of the blood test.
I have tested negative on the igg at 8 weeks and 12 weeks for both HSV 1 and HSV 2. I was not able to see a doctor or be swabbed while I had lesions, but I have seen two gynecologists about my symptoms and showed them photos and they didn’t believe it looked like herpes, but they didn’t know whether it was folliculitis, yeast, staph, bug bites, something else, etc.
-In the first week of August I had unprotected sex with my monogamous partner of several months, and when that relationship ended, protected sex with a new partner (neither are known to have HSV)
-About 22 days later I noticed 3 or 4 mosquito bite-like mildly itchy bumps on my left buttocks, they were pink, did not hurt at all, no fluid, no blister, no ulcer, remained the same for a week and faded
-9 days after those bumps appeared I noticed two smaller itchy bumps on the other side, also pink mildly itchy, non painful, closer to my vagina where the buttocks meets the thigh, went away after a week
-2 weeks after that another pinkish red bump appeared close to the second location closer to my thigh, this one appeared to have a small central puncture, but again it did not break open or weep, just remained itchy on&off for a week
-in the days following the disappearance of the last bump, several more appeared in new places: my inner thigh, a couple spread on my stomach, one on my arm–I wondered if these could perhaps have been hives triggered by the herpes (but they were not at all target shaped like erythema multiform, just isolated pink itchy bumps that lasted several days)
-all bumps have left slightly darkened marks when they faded

Also perhaps this final detail is incidental but I just want to include it all–
-a couple days after the first bumps appeared on my left buttocks I also had a small itchy pink bump on front left of my pelvis, along my pantyline close to the top of my thigh. Also just a bump no blister or evident fluid, lasted a couple days.
My fear is being irresponsible about my dating and sex life and transmitting the virus to someone else, but I also feel the medical options have been exhausted because the doctors have told me I am fine and I don’t know what more to ask of myself as I can’t afford the WB. But can’t shake the feeling that these bumps cannot otherwise be explained.

Your bumps don’t sound like herpes bumps to me. Herpes lesions are generally water blister type sores on a red base and they are tender. They then break open, make an ulceration in the skin, then scab over. What you are describing sounds more like folliculitis to me, but without seeing it, I obviously am not the best source of an opinion.
If you did an IgG test about 12 weeks out from your last concerning sexual encounter, that’s the best you can do right now. If you have a lesion that concerns you, see someone to have it swab tested to be sure. I don’t see what else you can do.
