So one dumb drunk night in June 2022 I had protected sex with an escort followed by an unprotected blowjob. The next day I noticed a purple groin line and a day or so later my penis felt kinda off. It kinda felt itchy at the tip but more irritated. I have been stressing like crazy. I talked to many online doctors and seen my own doctor and they all said didn’t resemble a sti, and I tried different fungal creams and at 53 days I got tested for sti’s (not for herpes) and that all came back clear. In October it got really red because I think I tried so many creams and had an allergic reaction. I tried a prescribed steroid cream and it seem to be the only thing that actually helped, it peeled and came somewhat back to normal. Still losing my mind I got a blood test for herpes igG antibody’s and they both showed negative At 19 weeks. All I have had is slight irritation and some redness which I think was from the creams, but still in the back of my mind I am stressed out and I read the internet and don’t know what to believe , are there false negatives ? I have never had a cold sore in my life or any blisters down there. I think and hope it’s some type of dermatitis, it’s been around 8 months, I just wonder if I am hyper focused on something that’s not even there. I just read that some people don’t show symptoms for years but would they test positive ? Does this sound remotely like herpes ? Thank you, just really wanna move past this and do better.

I have also had itchy redness on my testicles that seemed to go away after I put the cream on the next day, right now everything seems fine, my penis maybe is a little red not sure if that’s from stress or sweating. Seems like friction or sweat triggers it, and sometimes it will peel , when the rash got bad it seems like a leathery patch across the middle of the glans but like I said I never got that until October when I tried a bunch of different creams. Wondering if I wrecked the skin barrier or something

People don’t acquire HSV 2 from receiving oral sex (at least I don’t’ think any of the experts have seen that ever). What people get is HSV 1. But your symptoms honestly don’t sound like HSV 1 genital infection to me. I would caution you against the use of so many topical medicine, particularly steroid cream which should have very limited duration of use.

Ok so should I believe my antibody test results being negative and move on ?

With 92% certainty, you can believe that you did not acquire HSV 2 and 70% certainty that you didn’t acquire HSV 1.

Ok … well with it being 8 months out and I haven’t had any pain, blisters, sores just some redness that seemed to be helped from the steroid creams ( which I am carful and not using long term ) what would you say I should do ? I feel like I am fine but my anxiety are through the roof. And if I noticed symptoms/itching 24 hrs later does that mean it’s low possibility? I kissed this girl and never got a cold sore either, could I have ? One night stand what do you think the possibility is ? Really don’t wanna test no more if I don’t have to. And I have hooked up with regular girl because I thought I was clean and she never presented nothing either in these 8 months.

I think it is very likely that you don’t have HSV 2 right now, given a negative IgG at 19 weeks. The only concern is that the IgG for HSV 1 misses 30% of infections so I’m not as certain that we can trust that and maybe you don’t care quite as much about that one as so many people are already infected

Ok I am so confused, so if I have hsv1 won’t I have it on my genitals then from the oral sex ? And the itchyiness and redness ( which I think the rednes was from the cream or something) has been constant for months , is that normal ? Is there any truth to it usually affect one side of the penis ? This rash was on the glans and was bright red down the middle and on either side , then when I used the cream it started to peel and come back to normal, sorry I hope this all makes sense, I am so confused on all of this

Those symptoms don’t sound like HSV 1 genital infection to me. Herpes would present with more than redness and when it starts to heal, it doesn’t peel, it makes scabs which fall off. This just doesn’t sound like HSV 1 genital infection to me.
