I was diagnosed with genital HSV1 in February 2016 after a positive swab. I didn’t have a recurrent outbreak until March 2018 which was following a surgery and it was only one tiny lesion.
Otherwise I have not had another outbreak at all. I have experienced significant stress and illness which in all likelihood should have triggered it but didn’t.
I am curious to know about the likelihood of further outbreaks given it has now been over 5 years with no symptoms – can you please provide some guidance?
I think further outbreaks are really unlikely UNLESS something else happens like your surgery. Other things that could cause an outbreak as meds like steroids that suppress your immune systems or trauma, like surgery or waxing, for some people
