My wife of 12 years had been diagnosed with genital herpes. She thinks I cheated and gave her the herpes. I had blood work done and I don’t have it. I do on very rare occasions have cold sores . She claimed she has not cheated. Is it possible to give someone genital herpes from oral stimulation with possibly cold sores ? How long can herpes lay dormant in my wife ? Or do you have any other explanations ?

No, cold sores are HSV 1. Has she had partner prior to you? If yes, she could have been infected for many years and didn’t know it. And how was she diagnosed>

Herpes can remain dormant for many many years. I have had patients who have had other partners long before long term marriages – they are infected and their spouses are not.
Literature about this? Gosh, I guess you can read the CDC guidelines on herpes but it is well know that herpes is a life long infection so one could acquire it with a first sexual experience and have it for life.Terri
