Hi Terri,
I began to feel eczema like symptoms about 3 months ago. It just started out of nowhere, I have never had it for all my life and I’m 43 years old, male. The itching was severe enough that I was losing sleep so I went to a dermatologist. They diagnosed it as eczema after 3 visits and a biopsy. They gave me all sorts of creams to apply, none of which have helped the problem.
The eczema has spread, having started on the tops of my feet and up my legs, now around my thighs, groin, butt, stomach, back, a little on the arms, and now on my scrotum and penis head. I am not entirely sure it is eczema on my penis – red dots on head, with a sore on the tip of lower head that has scabbed slightly.
Needless to say I am extremely worried and tremendously nervous. After having read the sympotoms of hiv to include eczema, I am beyond worried and having started to mentally and emotionally breakdown.
What my questions are is why would eczema just all of the sudden start without any prior issue of it, and what is on my penis? Perhaps herpes? At this point I would be happy and releived to learn I have herpes and not hiv, but I fear the worst.
Yes I have been sexually active with multiple partners and have not always been safe either so that’s at the root cause of my worries. I feel like I am now paying the price of my reckless decisions and my time has come.
Please help me diagnose this issue. I understand I should test myself and I’m willing so please recommend the proper and best tests to take. Keep in mind I must use privacy/discretion. I saw stdcheck.com online but not sure about the quality.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide and I am truly sorry for my reckless actions that have spread disease.

I’m so sorry you are having this rash. It sounds incredibly uncomfortable and absolutely nothing like herpes. Nothing at all like herpes. Have you gone back to the dermatologist? If not, please go back right away and let them evaluate your most current rash. I don’t know much about these rashes honestly so can’t offer you much help here. I can only tell you that this sounds nothing like herpes. I sure do hope you get some resolution of your symptoms
Terri.

Thanks for the reply, Terri. I got up enough courage to do a 10 panel test through blood and urine samples and everything but herpes 1 came back negative. The technician told me the hsv1 is always positive and nothing to worry about. So that has been quite a relief. However, this rash has been persistent and I start itching around 4:30 am and it won’t let up for a few hours. I also feel sick and low on energy and strength till around noon, like a have a hangover. The rash is on my penis glans with a very red and chafed area on the lower part of the tip which has scabbed and flaked a little bit. Although I tested negative for hsv2 genital herpes, I feel like have herpetic eczema. I know that I am great at diagnosing myself through the Internet and have a track record of that, but could you please tell me if any of the symptoms I have are indications of herpetic eczema or hsv2? I also have a small blister on the inside of my lower lip that keeps popping up and healing in the same spot.

It is possible that the thing inside your lower lip is HSV 1. To know for certain, you should have it swab tested by PCR.
The rash that you have and the body symptoms that you are having do not sound at all herpetic to me.
BTW only about 50% of the US population between 14 and 49 are positive for HSV 1.
have you seen a dermatologist about this? If not, please get off the internet and see a real personTerri
