› Forums › Herpes Questions › Equivocal 2 years ago (1.00 on IGG), 2.05 positive now
Hey Terri,
So I am really freaking out rn. A few years ago I tested negative for HSV 1 but equivocal for HSV 2. I didnt think much of it, as I was single and never really had any symptoms. Rarely, I will get an isolated bump down there but these are never painful or pop. They usually occur a few weeks after I shave/trim so I always assumed these were just pimples/ingrown hairs/something else. However, I’ve been seeing someone for the past month and I felt I owed it to her to get tested before we do anything. This time the IGG came back 2.05 for HSV 2. I’m just alittle confused why that number is so low. I have not had a questionable encounter in the last 2 years. Is this a false positive? Also not sure if this helps, but the IGM tests have always come back negative.
Update: Tested again this week. IGG was 1.89. So to clarify, two years ago tested equivocal at 1.00. Last week, tested 2.09. This week was at 1.89.
Both your of your positive results could definitely be false positive. You most certainly need a western blot to clarify your situation.
Terri
Western blots can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to come back. It’s a good thing that the IgG went down rather than up but it is not definitive by itsel.
