Hi Terri,
I recently did a full panel STD test prior to knowing that the CDC doesn’t recommend herpes testing if you don’t have symptoms. The doctor never mentioned it either (went to an urgent care).
I haven’t been sexually active with anyone in three years. When I was active, it was protected and there was no known instances of exposure to someone with an active outbreak. I also have never had any symptoms at all. I did have chicken pox as a child, however.
My HSV-1 came back as .27 and my HSV-2 came back as 1.07 equivocal. Just wondering if I should bother with another test? The positive range was 1.10 on my labs (BioReference). Or what this result possibly means?
Thank you.
I think you are very very likely to be really negative for HSV 2. In my entire career, I have only seen one person who tested in the equivocal range and tested positive on the western blot. Everyone has tested negative on the blot who tested in the equivocal range on the IgG test.
Terri
