Hi Terri,
I am hoping to maybe have some guidance. Where i live in Canada health care providers definitely seem to not be well informed on HSV.
I will run through my scenario.
I had unprotected PIV sex with a new partner april 8-11. April 8th was actually protected if that matters. I had not been sexually active for 5 months prior to that and that was with a longer term partner.
I started feeling chilled on the 10th but attributed that to environment.
But by the 12th I was bedridden sick with chills, boiling hot(no actual fever) Muscle aches especially legs, sweat so much that night my sheets were soaked. same time I noticed what looked like 3 ingrown hairs on my bikini line, one on the external labia on the same side and 2 additional individual bumps on the alternate inner thigh. woke up the next day(13th) fever and chills resolved just felt run down and tired. I believed the bumps were a shaving issue until the next day(14th) I noticed one up top on the inner labia. More sores then developed near the bum but nothing else on the actual genitals. It was more annoying than painful. Irritated and stung a bit to touch and itchy but pain was not how I would describe it. Also had irregular vaginal bleeding the 19th but maybe unrelated My skin my leg felt sore ( maybe that is nerve pain I have no clue). All the sores were almost healed by the 23rd and now it looks like another batch is appearing.Does this sound like a new infection primary outbreak?
It seems too coincidental for it to be an old infection. But i have heard that primary outbreaks are at point of first contact so not having any in the vagina seems odd. and its hardly painful. But then the flu sypmtoms and second wave make me feel its a new infection
I am still waiting on the results of the swab but given my symptoms I am fairly confident of an HSV diagnosis. I also am fighting to try and get the blood test to help me establish timeline but my dr says they dont exist so its an uphill battle -

When reading what you first wrote, I was worried you might have a positive swab test. You can contract HSV 1 genital by receiving oral sex from someone who has HSV 1 orally, even if there is no cold sore present, and that’s apparently what happened to you.
Your HSV 1 genital infection may not recur and if it does, recurrences, after the first year, will be infrequent. Since your partner appears to have given this to you, it is unlikely that you would then infect them genitally.
Let me know what questions you may have now.
