Hello Mrs/misses Terri
I went to my local clinic in sept to get a routine check up being that I was active with someone 1 week prior then active with someone in July . I was with that individual for many years and have not experienced any tell-tell signs of infection. I wanted to get evaluated due to the fact I was active with someone new in sept .
My timeline :
Intimate with long time partner on July 12
Broke up July 17 no symptoms throughout the duration of relationshipIntimate with someone sept 6
Tested sept 14
Results for hsv 1 value > 90
Results for hsv 2 value >4.75
My regular gynecologist was a little upset at the fact that I was given the igg test because I was not experiencing an outbreak nor ever had signs of a outbreak below the belt and that test could indicate I’ve come across it before but It was not an acute illness and those test have a high -false positive rate . Once again I have never experienced an outbreak of any kind . I do believe I have something that seems to be a cold sore on my lip but once again I don’t know because it is not obvious. It reminds me of eczema on my lip . Crack skin. Darker complexion . Uncomfortable but not painful. Some throbbing occasionally . But I have not gotten this swab to confirm that not to mention it is cold where I am located .Also I did experience chicken pox’s as a child and I did have mono when I was in high school . I have contemplated getting the west blot because I do have medical anxiety extremely. And I find myself battling some mental health problems since finding out my results .
Also I informed the individual who test negative for hsv2 prior to our interaction. With results presented to me . And this person to this day has not experienced any signs of infection.
So I was wondering would getting the western boot be something I should pursue? Is it a chance that it is a false positive? Please please please help me
I am sorry if I am rambling.

I think you should obtain the western blot, yes.
Are you saying that your HSV 1 value is really greater than 90?Terri

Hsv1 < 0.90 (negative)
I apologize. I also want to state that I am African American . I have read where you stated that the false positive in this group of people was a lot higher for some reason . Even though I know that the location is interchangeable I know that it is rare for hsv2 to be oral but I seem to have more possibilities orally sore throat . Tingling in lip . Even though it doesn’t look like your typical sore . It’s scabs over . It is irritating but sometimes sore . And burns . It could be noting . But I’ve learned things can be tricky in the medical field. But I also don’t know if my anxiety is making me think more into it.
I did order a blot kit . And I sent the specimen back today . I appreciate this forum and you having detailing information on here . I will inform you of the results . . . -

OK, I am assuming that you had a clinician order the test, you can’t order this one yourself. I’ll be interested in the results.
